Custom Fitting
Why Get Fitted?
As a leading company in custom fitting, we believe there are several benefits to being fitted and advantages to all golfers not just better players. The market has changed massively over the last 18 months and now 47% of golfers buy their clubs made to measure. Consequently, we hardly ever sell a club or set from the store everything is made specifically for our customer.
An answer we often hear, when we ask have you ever been fitted for clubs, is that the customer is a standard fitting. We could ask many questions to this, first being standard to whom? As nearly all the manufactures have different specifications to standard, relating to lengths, lies, lofts, swing and weights. Now with the new innovation of launch monitors and select fit carts you can factually find out what is best to you.
If you decide to buy clubs purely by taping up the club and hitting on the range, you have no idea of how fast the ball is coming of the club face and how much spin you are putting on the ball. The launch monitor will show us the facts, which we can match with the best options of head design and shaft technology available to you. The manufacturer will then make your set exactly to this specification.
The Art To Fitting
The art to fitting is to improve ball flight direction and distance. To do this we are looking for firstly, the club head speed. If you have achieve an 80 miles an hour club head speed, then the ball speed off the face should be 50% more at around 120 miles an hour which most players do not achieve.
If this is increased to say 90 miles an hour, then this is an inefficient swap the shaft to lighter shaft lower kick point then you can see ball speed increase to nearer the magic 120 miles an hour next launch angle perfect launch angle on the above would be 12.5 degrees imagine if you are launching higher say 16 degrees the ball is then going to high to quick thus coming down to quickly and not running out.
Now, it is not as simple as reduce loft as this increases spin and could make it worse we need to look at shaft kick point design of club head and loft. Finally we look at spin this is why golf balls have helped the game they have reduced spin but loft shaft kick point play a massive part in reducing ball spin
